The Kingdom will host a summit in Makkah on Sunday to talk about measures to take to ease the current economic situations in Jordan. According to Saudi Gazette, the summit is taking place to “discuss ways to support Jordan to overcome the economic crisis the country is going through.”
In a statement made by the Saudi Royal Court, plans for the summit was conceived from phone calls between King Salman bin Abdulaziz with King Abdullah II of Jordan. Along the call were also Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah and the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Jordan has been having protests since the government made decisions to approve a controversial income tax bill. The budget of the entire country, this year alone, is suffering from a deficit of $1.753 billion.
