The soulful Saudi-yemeni singer, Abu Bakr Salem, passed away at the age of 78 leaving behind some of his greatest works spanning six decades. The singer passed on Sunday after a long battle with disease and everyone in the Kingdom is in mourning. 

Abu Bakr Salem was a singer, poet and literature-enthusiast 

…who is a well-known figure in the Arab world for his heart-warming music. He had also participated with the Saudi National Day celebrations in Jeddah recently. Salem, born in 1939, moved from Yemen to Saudi in the 1970s and eventually settled in Riyadh. 

He had been suffering with health problems for the last 10 years, even undergoing an open heart surgery in Germany, reports Gulf News.

A sad loss but he will be remembered forever…
