Driving lessons are being arranged by Saudi’s The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation or (TVTC) for colleges in the Kingdom, according to Saudi Gazette. A supervisor from the TVTC team Amal Al-Sahli says this will be beneficial for the women to further improve their role in public life as well as their participation in the work sector.
Educating women in their splaces of study is a more efficient way of teaching them the basics about driving, until the royal decree comes into effect next year. The programme, in many colleges, will teach women to repair cars when there’s emergency, and the avoidance of having breakdown of vehicles on the streets. Amal further added that the trainees will learn about traffic laws and rules, with fresher courses on traffic signs.
How useful!
Saudi has 19 of these TVTC colleges all over the country, and each campus is managed by head colleges from abroad, by countries like the US, Canada and England. More than 15,000 female students study different courses that could lead them to higher jobs in the Kingdom’s workforce.
Last month, The Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques King Salman, issued a decree allowing Saudi women to finally obtain driving licenses and lift the ban. However, a draft by his commitee was asked to be completed within 30 days from the date of announcement.
By June 24, 2018, the royal decree should be effective and women who acquire their driving licenses will get to drive.
