For the project’s first phase, 30 mosques from 10 different regions in the Kingdom will be the subject of renovations that is estimated to cost more than SAR 50million. Most of the mosques queued for this project are located in heritage villages, mostly ones that have been in an abandoned state. The renovation for the first 30 mosques is expected to accommodate 4,000 worshippers.
Part of the reason for MBS’ project will not only help make these mosques accessible to more pilgrims but also prioritises the development of the Kingdom’s heritage and its historical sites.
