Oman is making way for a new road linking to the Kingdom that will reduce the driving time to 800km less than its current state.

 At the moment, the fastest route between Oman and Saudi is 1,638 kilometres long, with passing through the UAE resulting in a driving time of 16 to 18 hours. 

More than 130 million cubic metres of sand has been removed 

According to Times of Oman, the incredible amount of sand being removed is to ave way for the 680km road from Oman to Saudi Arabia. The opening of the road is said to come as part of its organisation (ISFU)’s 16 initiatives within its logistics services sector.

“It is estimated that the new road will contribute to good growth of trade activities between the two countries”
