Saudi women haven’t just been maneuvering the streets in their vehicles but the skies too. According to Gulf News, five Saudi female pilots have received their licenses by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), enabling them to work as captains on Saudi Arabian Airlines aircraft.
The issuing of their licenses is part of GACA’s efforts in empowering local women to work in the aviation sector.
The more female pilots the merrier!
Currently, approximately 500 women already hold positions under Saudia airlines, Saudi’s main carrier.
Most of these women are in the financial, IT and reservation sectors and with this news, female pilots working for airlines should see an increase within the next few years.
