Saudi’s first cinema is launching tomorrow (Wednesday) and photos have already popped up on social media showing how it will look. We’ll clue you in, it looks pretty awesome already. 

The Development and Investment Entertainment Company (DIEC) is launching the Kingdom’s FIRST public cinema this week in collaboration with AMC Entertainment. The newly-built cinema complex is located in the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) in Riyadh.

The first screening will take place on Tuesday, April 18

The launch (to be held on Tuesday) will be a private screening for invitation-only guests, and will continue in this manner for the rest of April, reports Arabian Business. The public opening of the cinema is scheduled for May, wherein tickets and showtimes are planned to go on sale in advance through an online system. 

Three more screens at the KAFD theatre will open during the third quarter this year 

The partnership with US-based AMC will oversee more than 40 cinema complexes in up to 40 locations within five years in the Kingdom over the duration of five years, reports The LA Times. The partnership between DIEC and AMC Entertainment is one of the key prospectives in advancing towards the Vision 2030 aims to boost Saudi’s entertainment sector.

AMC Theatres is the world’s largest cinema operator 

The deal between AMC and the Kingdom comes after four months announced giving licenses to open cinema complexes for the first time in 35 years. IAMC’s largest shareholder is Chinese conglomerate Dalian Wanda Group hopes to have control on over 50% of Saudi’s theatre industry.
