The upcoming Hajj season is expected to see much higher numbers than in previous years. Among the many initiatives that the government is taking to facilitate the annual pilgrimage is allowing the immigration process to be completed even before setting foot in the country.

As of now, this facility will be available to pilgrims of only one country – Bangladesh.

According to Arab News, the facility was extended to Bangladeshi pilgrims following a high-level meeting between officials of the two countries.

Over 127,000 Bangladeshi pilgrims are expected to benefit from the move.

Earlier, the process for the pilgrims was that they either had to wait in queues at the Hajj terminal or wait in the aircraft itself while the immigration processes were completed.

Now, the immigration process will be completed in Bangladesh’s main international airport.

It remains unclear whether Bangladeshi pilgrims flying from other cities of Bangladesh will be extended the facility as well.
