Pizza Hut received backlash on Sunday for a tweet that ‘made a mockery out of people who stutter’ people found insensitive. The ad, posted on the same day as International Stuttering Awareness Day, promoted their pizzas and tweeted out repeated letters to make it look like the person reading is someone who stutters.
Reactions spurted out of people who stutter themselves, saying the tweet was disrespectful and offensive. Others even demanded to boycott Pizza Hut for it.
Screw you, guys. I stutter and this is so insensitive. @PizzaHut_Saudi @pizzahut pic.twitter.com/cAuByYwSPh

It’s a shame that one branch of your restaurants in Saudi Arabia is making fun of people who stutter. Get a grip @pizzahut @PizzaHut_Saudi

And they apologised for the “irresponsible” tweet, adding that they intend to take necessary measures against whoever was responsible for the mistake.
The hashtag #I_boycott_pizzahut was a trending topic in Saudi Arabia too, launched by Saudis to boycott the chain.
