With the passing of the royal decree to lift the ban on women driving, women who intend to hold jobs as family chauffeurs have been issued new bylaws. The Public Transport Authority (PTA) has announced a set of regulations for female drivers who will soon work for family transportation services, reported Saudi Gazette.
A SAR 5,000 fine can be imposed on a Saudi female driver if there is no present adult female passenger during the family transportation service. Along with this, another SAR5,000 in fines will also be the result of a driver that ends up not being of Saudi nationality.
If the driver was to transport anywhere else other than the city in which the license was issued, a fine of SAR500 can be imposed. If a male passenger or a child is seen seated in the front seat, this results in a SAR2,000 fine.
The bylaws announced by the PTA also mentioned that vehicles need to have at least 7 seats, proper air-condition, and be under 5 years old. Furthermore, colour and appearance reportedly also play a part and must fit the requirements.
