Rumours about pilgrims coming to Umrah and Haj after their first time would have to pay SAR2,000 have been put to rest by the Deputy Minister. In a statement made towards Saudi Gazette, Dr. Abdul Fattah bin Sulaiman Mashat, Deputy Minister of Haj and Umrah, said that pilgrims and worshippers of Umrah would not be charged anything.
He added that the recent social media reports were probably a result of a misunderstanding. No announcement has been made on levying fees by the Ministry of Haj and Umrah. However, the SAR 2,000 fee is an entry fee for entering Saudi and nothing at all to do with Haj and Umrah. The entry fee also only applies to those visiting the Kingdom for the second or subsequent times.
There has been a misunderstanding about SR2,000 fee. It is considered an entry fee for the Kingdom, and Haj and Umrah has nothing to do with it; however, those who are entering the Kingdom for the first time will be not be charged as per the instructions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia. Those who are entering the Kingdom for the second and subsequent entries will be charged SR2,000.
