Saudi Arabia Is Spending More Than $20 Million To Save The Arabian Leopard
The Arabian Leopard hasn’t been spotted in Saudi Arabia for almost a decade. The country is now taking a strong stance to ensure its preservation.
According to the Arab News, the Royal Commission for Al-Ula (RCU) has signed an agreement with global wild cat organisation Panthera.
The Arabian Leopard is classified as “critically endangered” by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

The Arabian Leopard is believed to be indigenous to Al Ula.
The RCU will invest $20 million over the next 10 years towards the conversation of the Arabian Leopard. This is not the only initiative by the RCU to preserve wildlife, they earlier created the Sharaan Nature Reserve to protect and preserve endangered species in the country.
