Saudi Call For Ceasefire In Yemen And Makes A Huge $500 Humanitarian Donation

A two-week ceasefire in Yemen has been called by the Saudi-lead coalition.

This comes at a crucial time in the battle against COVID-19. The Kingdom announced its commitment towards stabilizing the region and is offering donations to the humanitarian needs in Yemen, along with a sum towards fighting the deadly virus.

Early this morning on Twitter, Prince Khalid bin Salman, Saudi’s Deputy Minister of Defense announced a $500 million contribution to an international humanitarian plan in Yemen as well as $25 million to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The cease-fire will begin today and supports the Kingdom’s quest for peace and efforts to stabilize the region

The Kingdom supports the UN’s efforts and wants to find a solution for the good of the Yemeni people

The two-week ceasefire will ease tensions and hopefully aid towards a sustainable political solution

Saudi urges the Houthi forces to follow suit. As COVID-19 continues to spread this is a crucial time to act.
