Morocco has announced cutting its ties with Iran for allegedly arming Polisario Front independence fighters in Western Sahara, reports Khaleej Times. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia strongly stands by Morocco during this time, and everything that threatens its stability and security, an official sourced from the Foreign Ministry stated.
In the Khaleej Times report, Saudi Press Agency added that the Kingdom’s government is against Iran’s meddling with Morocco’s internal affairs, using Hezbollah’s terrorist militias, to train the elements of the ‘Polisario’ group to weaken Morocco’s security and stability.
Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Foreign Minister, announced on Tuesday that the decision to cut ties with Iran has nothing to with the ‘current regional or international developments’, most likely referring to the tensions between Saudi, its allies and Iran.
