Saudi Press Agency has reported that an official source within Saudi Arabia’s Consulate General in Istanbul has dismissed the news of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi’s death within its premises.
The statement added strong denouncements of the recent reports that have come out, saying they’re “baseless allegations”, reports Arab News.
The Saudi journalist had reportedly gone inside the Consulate in Istanbul on October 2 but have since disappeared. Turkish officials said they believed he had gotten murdered, according to several reports.
However, Saudi Arabia’s Consul General in Istanbul Mohammed Al-Otaibi reiterated that Jamal was not at the consulate nor in the Kingdom and ‘the consulate and the embassy are working to search for him,’ reports Saudi Gazette.

The source from the Consulate General also added his doubts about the Reuters’ report claiming that the news was confirmed by Turkish officials “who are informed of the investigation or are authorised to coment on the issue.”
The official said a security delegation that includes Saudi investigators had arrived in Istanbul on Saturday to partake in the investigations into Khashoggi’s disappearance.
