SPA made statements following concerns over social media posts of a supposed heavy gunfire around the royal palaces, saying…

“At 1950 (1650 GMT) a security checkpoint in Khuzama neighborhood of Riyadh spotted a small remote-controlled drone. Police shot it down. Authorities are investigating the incident.”

Saudi Press Agency

The drone was shot by policemen from the Al Khuzama police station

Instructions were given to the Al Khuzama policemen to act immediately, with compliance to the proper security regulations, hence the interception of the drone. The Ministry of Interior has announced that people should gain permission to fly their devices (drones) until proper regulations for it have been finalised.
