The first female Saudi boxer, apart from that already being such a huge achievement, has bought back home more pride for the Kingdom after winning an international competition. Boxer Dona Mohammed al- Ghamdi won the 2018 International Boxing Championship, held in a Jordanian province on Friday.
After completing high school, al- Ghamdi took interest in boxing, initially, in hopes to lose weight. Pretty soon this lead to her eventually earning not one, not two but three black belts and four medals to her name. Oh and she did end up going from 155 kilos to 80 in only nine months, according to an interview with Al Arabiya.
How incredible.
Just last year, Donna joined the Arab Boxing Championship, which was held in Jordan and boxers from other countries like Egypt, UAE, Kuwait and Germany were in attendance.
A lot of social media love was sent towards Dona’s way for her amazing accomplishment, that is setting the new year off to a right start. The Saudi Boxing Federation even announced her triumph over their Twitter handle.
