A number of schools were closed down by the department of education in Makkah earlier in the week

16 schools were closed down, of which 14 schools were for girls and two were for boys.

The department said that the first detected outbreak of Scabies was at two elementary schools and they have since then closed down all 16 schools for the upcoming week.

20 boys and girls have contracted Scabies from the schools

Schools were advised by the department to increase the awareness on the importance of cleanliness in order to contain the spread of the skin disease.
