Since the wave of sandstorms started two days ago, and still continued until Wednesday, schools and universities in Riyadh have been closed. The Riyadh Education Department announced on Wednesday that all schools and universities in the capital city of the Kingdom. 

Provinces like Ramah, Thadig, Muzahmip, Hremala, Daraia and Hremala will also follow the same protocol similar to Riyadh. 

Schools and universities closed due to the sandstorm 

The Saudi General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection issued a decision to ensure that students will be safe, and passed on the suspension of classes to school administrations. 

The storm is likely to continue for a few more days.. 

With the southern winds to reach the speed of 55km/h. The central and eastern parts of Saudi are expecting a drop in temperatures and low visibility with heavy dust in the air. Despite cancellations of schools and universities, airline traffic won’t be affected by the sandstorms, according to Turki Al- Dheeb, Director of the Department of Information And Public Relations.
