Smokers In The Kingdom Are Subject To A SAR200 Fine If They Do This One Thing

A new announcement has been made by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) saying smokers who light up in an area where it is banned to can be imposed to a SAR200 fine. 

Saudi Gazette reports that any facility or company where the aforementioned SFDA anti-smoking rules have been implemented can now get fines of  between SAR 5,000 to SAR 20,000 for every violation of the regulations mentioned.

Where you can’t smoke

Smoking is banned in these specific spots…

  • Companies and factories that is supervised by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority
  • Places or companies that manufacture, prepare and package food and drinks
  • Medicine and foodstuff warehouses 
  • Vehicles that transport medicines, medical equipment, foods and drinks 
  • Mobile medical clinics, health centres, labs, pharmacies and other facilities of similar nature

Smoking, in this case, refers to many different kinds of tobacco-smoking

  • Cigarettes
  • cigars
  • substances used in shisha 
  • any product that has tobacco as its ingredient
