Avatar

In efforts to combat cybercrime in the Kingdom, it is now illegal to spy on your significant other’s phone.

The Kingdom released an Anti-Cybercrime Law last week, which goes against any computer or mobile phone snooping

This will help the country’s aim at strengthening security and protecting individuals from online malice.

Charges and payment

If caught engaging in the offence, it could cost you almost SAR500,000 and land you in prison for a whole year.

Another punishment with a fine of SAR three million and a jail sentence of four years will be applicable if you’re found with illegal access to a computer with the intention to:

  • delete,
  • destroy,
  • leak,
  • damage,

  • intent to distribute private information
