Strict New Rules Mean Drivers Will Have To Complete Up To 120 Hours Of Training Before Qualifying For A Licence

You didn’t hear wrong… to obtain a driver’s license in Saudi Arabia (for both women and men), driving lessons are now MANDATORY.

The Directorate General of Traffic, better known as muroor, have released statements to local media that new licenses will only be issued if the applicant attends driving lessons that might range between 30 and 120 HOURS, Saudi Gazette reported on Tuesday.

Previously, anyone who wanted their driving license only had to do a driving test

However, no new licenses will be permitted to any applicants without completing driving lessons. A spokesman from the Muroor told Makkah newspaper that a 90-hour-intensive training will be given to those who don’t drive so well, or are pure beginners.

However, those who can drive can get away with 30 hours of lessons.

Pretty darn fair.

This is a good initiative that might just prevent drivers in Saudi from getting into accidents

So it’s a win-win, really.
