The local woman who was arrested for hugging Iraqi-Saudi singer Majid al-Muhandes has now also been transferred to the criminal court to face legal consequences. The occurrence took place just over a week ago, wherein the woman jumped up on stage and repeatedly hugged the singer after being reportedly urged by her friends to do so.

The woman will face legal consequences under the Kingdom’s new anti-sexual harassment law

Al-Madina newspaper reported that the woman is set to face trial under Saudi’s recent anti-sexual harassment law drafted late last year.

She will be tried under the sixth article of the law which carries a prison sentence of up to two years in addition to a fine of SAR 100,000.
