“We want to encourage everyone to invest in Saudi Arabia, and we are continuously changing to make this easier…We have already introduced very necessary changes, and the results are showing with Tadawul on the watch list for inclusion in the MSCI and FTSE Russell indices,”
Speaking at Future Investment Initiative, she said there is “more to come” in transforming Tadawul ( Saudi Stock Exchange) including expansion programs in derivatives trading and cross-listing stocks with int’l exchanges. She joined Tadawul as Saudi Oil Company ARAMCO prepared for stock exchange listing in Saudi and in one other country. Quite a challenging time indeed.
She also poignantly spoke about the need to have more women in senior
positions in finance and asked women NOT TO FEAR the challenges.
“I began at SAMBA ( BANK) and faced small challenges
that nobody wanted to do. But we used to dream big and we met those challenges…” Today, endless opportunities exist in Saudi Arabia for
women, who have more support. They can do much more for themselves in the
country.”“What I want to tell young women is if you find a challenge
in a field that you like, just do it, even if you think you can’t succeed. I
know they can.”
Sarah Al Suhaimi became the first female Chief Executive at a National Commercial Bank in 2014 later in 2017 february, she became the first female in history to lead the Saudi Stock Exchange.
