Rumors about expats having to pay a hefty 10% on tax on a monthly salary of more than SAR3,000 are now being put to rest. The Ministry of Labor and Social Development (MLSD) has denied these rumors that have been going around social media and says there is no truth to those reports.

There is no truth in those reports

According to MLSD’s spokesman Khaled Aba Al-Khail, there is no intention to impose new tax on expatriates. The rumors on social media even suggested that the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) was a part of the coordinating committee in imposing the tax.

Whatever social media is circulating about the new tax on expatriates is totally untrue,

Another rumor that is being put to rest by the ministry is the one that claims recruitment and the issuing of work permits for 60 jobs will be stopped and given only to Saudis. Aba Al- Khail denied these reports and said only 19 jobs will be strictly limited to Saudis.
