Every year the US News and World Report comes out with its most powerful countries in the world list and as every year the United States tops the rankings. The rankings are based on “five country attributes that are related to a country’s power: a leader, economically influential, politically influential, strong international alliances and strong military.”
Saudi Arabia is ranked 9th in the world in this year’s list. It was ranked 9th last year as well. The accompanying text on the US News website reads “Saudi Arabia is the giant of the Middle East, with both the vast majority of land and wealth of the Arabian Peninsula falling within its borders. UAE just missed out on the top 10 by ranking as the 11th most powerful country in the world. Another regional powerhouse Turkey was ranked 16th on the list.
