A school in Makkah honored the late poet Ibrahim Khafaji in the sweetest way possible by changing its name to the ‘Ibrahim Khafaji’ primary school.
Several sources online reveal that the name change came almost a year following the death of the poet, known for writing the lyrics to the Saudi national anthem- way back in 1984.
An iconic legend worthy of this approbation, indeed.

Apart from writing the song we all sing along to with pride today, the late Ibrahim Khafaji also composed other lyrical poems for famous artists across Saudi and the region. He has work with the likes of Sabah, Talal Maddah and even Mohammed Abdu- to name a few.
According to Arab News, Khafaji was personally chosen as the poet to write the lyrics to the national anthem. The famed lyrics known today took six months for him to work on.
Khafaji passed away at the age of 91 last November 2017 and was buried in Makkah. May he rest in peace.
