We have seen several sweeping reforms over the past couple of years, one of the latest of which is the Privileged Iqama scheme. But those reforms are finally paying off as the unemployment rates in the country have dropped.

According to the Saudi Gazette, figures released by GaStat (General Authority for Statistics) shows that the unemployment rate among Saudi citizens has fallen to 12.5% in the first quarter of 2019.

The rate used to stand at 12.7% in the previous quarter.

The data also reveals that among Saudi men the unemployment stands at a low 6.6% and among women, the rate stood at 31.7%
