The average monthly expenditure of a Saudi household is actually higher than the average earning.
Every now and then the General Authority for Statistics (GaStat) comes out with pretty interesting findings. One of their recent findings pertained to household earnings and expenditures and the results are pretty staggering.
According to the Saudi Gazette, the average monthly income of a Saudi family stood at SR14,823. While those of an average family residing in Saudi regardless of nationality stood at SR11,984.
Coming to the expenditures, the average monthly expenditure of a Saudi family stood at SR16,125.

Dr. Fahd Bin Sulaiman Al-Tekhaifi, president of GaStat, has said in a press conference that the authority is carrying out a number of procedures to ensure the quality of the data. These included direct visits to the household and use of tablets for collection of data among others.
