Al Ula was once a sleepy town that only a few adventurous souls would have heard about. Vision 2030 came along and with it came tourism.
Now, thanks to tourism this historic city has again regained its lost glory and it now has so many jobs that it actually has to import staff from neighbouring regions.
According to the Arab News, a senior official told the newspaper that the city has a negative unemployment rate of 2 percent.
Al Ula has seen some of the biggest musical acts during the Winter at Tantora festival, social media influencers from around the world are documenting their travels here and its historic area got listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Al Ula will also be part of the Red Sea Project, one of the many flagship projects under Vision 2030 that will seek to bring in tourists from around the world to explore the wonders of the Red Sea and Al Ula.
