This Tesla Rival Is Planning To Open A Production Facility In Saudi

Lucid Motors has already raised about a $1 Billion from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and now news has come in that they are planning to set up a production facility in the kingdom.

In an interview with Arab News, the chief technology officer of Lucid Motors Peter Rawlinson said: “I can see a really bright future, with a tangible manufacturing facility or facilities.” He added “We’d love to do that…we’re currently in a period where we are investigating all these options.”

In the same interview, Rawlinson also said: “There is a vision that there will be some sort of production facility in the future.”

Though the plan is in its early days, the prospect of a Saudi made car sure does look promising for the future of the local automotive industry that has seen sweeping reforms over the past year or so.

Electric cars may be a rare sight in the kingdom but with Saudi backed Lucid Motors all set to open its factory soon and the first lot of cars expected to roll out in 2020 that all may change soon.
