It’s been a couple of months since the last follow-up on the cause of death of Saudi sisters, Rotana Farea (22) and Tala Farea (16), after being found in New York’s Hudson River last October.

According to Arab News, the forensic have obtained results stating that the two sisters had died by suicide.

My office determined that the death of the Farea sisters was the result of suicide, in which the young women bound themselves together before descending into the Hudson River.

Dr. Barbara Samson, Chief Medical Examiner at NYPD

The two were seen tied to each other, unconscious, at a park in New York a few months back…

The Farea sisters’ bodies were seen by a passer-by a little before 3 pm on October 24. The New York Police Department (NYPD) said it had responded to a 911 call, after which they saw the two females tied to each other, unresponsive, with no evident signs of trauma.

An official at the Saudi Embassy in Washington discredited claims by the Associated Press (AP) that the mother of Tala and Rotana got a phone call from the embassy asking the family to leave the U.S. following the late daughters’ asylum request.
