The Olympian Muslim athlete, Ibtihajj Muhammed, performed her Haajj for the very first time this year and said a great deal of good things about her holy experience. Coming from America, Ibtihajj, who also has a line of Barbie dolls was invited by Dar Al Islam travel agency, reports Arab News.
The 32-year-old is a sabre fencer and a member of the United States fencing team. She’s made a name for herself in the world of athleticism by being the first Muslim American woman to wear a hijab during the Olympics competition in the United States.
In an exclusive interview with Arab News, Muhammad said that her first-time trip to Saudi Arabia is the first time and is something she will never forget.
“I felt like it was something Allah called on me to perform Hajj and I was very excited. I was also very apprehensive and did not know what to expect; as you read and try to prepare for the journey it is more than anything you can anticipate. It feels like a blessing and I am really excited.”
In the statement made to AN, Muhammad thanked Saudi Arabia for its ability to accommodate the millions of people that took part in Hajj this year. The experience, she added, has been transformative.
Beautifully said, Ibtihajj.
