Several Princes, government officials, scientists and academics attended a ceremony at Prince Sultan’s Gran Hall of Al-Faisaliah Center yesterday.
Marking the 40th year of the award, King Salman and Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, the emir of Makkah and chairman of the King Faisal Foundation, both attended the ceremony.

Everyone who attended to take part in the prestigious ceremony watched a documentary film on the history of the 40-year-old prize, which was filled with the achievements of all the winners over the years.
Afterwards, King Salman handed the awards to the winners.
The award was given to five scientists and researchers from the following countries: Jordan, Indonesia, Tunisia, USA and the UK.
Categories of the winners ranged from science to literature, the winning categories were: service to Islam, Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and Literature, Medicine, and Science.

Prof. James P. Allison, the winner of 2018 King Faisal Prize in Medicine for his contribution to the developement of the feild of Immunotherapy for cancer, visited Alfaisal and gave a lecture entitled ” Bench to Bench: Cancer Immunotherapy Research” as part of CoM Lecture Series pic.twitter.com/t3WOt6mAxS

The lucky winners were gifted a certificate of their work written in calligraphy, a 24 carat, 200 grams of gold medal and a prize money of 750,000 Saudi Riyals.
