Obtaining a Hajj or Umrah visa is bound to become easier than ever before.
The breakthrough announcement was announced on Saudi-based TV channel MBC.
According to Arab News, Abdulrahman Shams, who is an adviser to the minister of Hajj and Umrah said “We are working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior to issue visas electronically, within minutes of completing the required forms, and without the need for passports to go through embassies.”
However, there is a small catch here and that is that the facility will be only available to Hajj and Umrah service-providing companies that are licensed. While there is still much clarity required on the new service, Shams has given small hints of what more to expect from it.
Shams has also said the move will encourage a larger number of pilgrims to visit Saudi Arabia.
