Currently, it is very rare to see a petrol pump to accept money through your bank cards (debit or credit). The staff at the petrol pump normally tell users to go the nearby ATM, withdraw the cash and pay.

But that it is set to change soon as MADA, which is the biggest payment network in the country announced on their Twitter account that people will be able to pay using their cards at all petrol pumps in the country.

The Hijri date mentioned on the tweet corresponds to the 14th of July 2019 in the Gregorian calendar.

Online users were baffled by the announcement and many started commenting on Mada’s tweet with questions and Mada actually replied to them such as this one.
