People Have Got To Stop Risking Their Lives For The Sake Of Going Viral

Lately, I’ve been noticing a sweeping trend, one that’s been taking over the Kingdom. I’m talking about the viral videos you’ve seen recently, and the consequences that follow them soon after.

This isn’t even a case of Saudi authorities intervention anymore; there are probably hundreds or thousands of videos waiting to go viral from all these Twitter accounts. It’s about the lives being taken away or the probability of it, as a result of these actions.

One example I’ve seen that got to me was the video of a young boy jumping in front of a moving truck

I mean, you’re on the side of a highway with speeding trucks, what could make jumping and dancing in front of it a logical act? One turn from any one of those trucks, or his inability to run back to the side of the road sooner and the video would have gone elsewhere.

Thankfully, in this case, it did not. However, this boy risked not ONLY his life but the lives of those drivers.

And the worst part is this isn’t the only life-risking ‘viral’ video we’ve seen in the Kingdom thus far.

This video of a guy deliberately setting his car on autopilot to eventually crash into a wall (casually) is another pointless act

Six months ago, another senseless act found on Twitter had gone viral. A guy recorded himself setting his car on autopilot to crash into a wall. The vehicle wasn’t beat-up, old or rusty but seemed to be in perfect condition. Either way, whose home was that? What if someone had walked past and there would have been no way to stop the vehicle since there’s no frickin’ human in there.

Think, people.

Stop risking your life and the life of others for a few thousand Twitter views or retweets

I understand that Saudi culture is embedded in the humour and lightheartedness of the people, and that’s not a bad thing, but these acts are in no way related to the culture anymore. It’s just plain stupidity.

There are a TON of other creative ways one could go viral if that’s the motive here. But some of these youngins’ need to start respecting that there are laws against these acts.

And at the end of the day, it’s just not worth it.
