The Saudi Arabian government has released a statement asking the Canadian ambassador in Riyadh to leave within 24 hours.
The decision, according to several reports, comes after the Canadian embassy interfered in the Kingdom’s internal affairs.
Previously, Canada released a tweet saying it was “gravely concerned” about over the arrests of civil society and women’s rights activists in Saudi Arabia.

The Kingdom’s Foreign Ministry, announced via Twitter, the summoning of the the Saudi ambassador Naif bin Bandar Al Sudairi to Canada for a consultation. A series of tweets shared the sentiments of Saudi Arabia, when it asked the Canadian ambassador in Riyadh had 24 hours to leave the country.

“It is very unfortunate that the words ‘immediate release’ appeared in the Canadian statement … it is unacceptable in relations between countries,” the ministry stated according to the Saudi Press Agency.
