On to bigger things this week as Saudi plans to completely wipe off illiteracy by 2024. With programs and conjoined efforts by leaders throughout the years, the rate of illiteracy has been reduced at a larger scale since 1972.<\/p>\n

What has Saudi done to eradicate it so far?<\/h3>\n

Well, for starters…\u00a0<\/p>\n

  • The Adult Education and Literacy System was announced in 1972, which ultimately lead to the establishment of the General Secretariat for Adult Education and Literacy in 1977.\u00a0<\/li>\n
  • Saudi won the King\u00a0Sejong award for Literacy in 1986.\u00a0<\/li>\n
  • The Kingdom won two more awards in 1996 and 1997 for Unesco and Noma Literacy Prize.<\/li>\n
