Riyadh is already pretty massive, and it’s growing in all directions as the city becomes the hub for everything major in the Middle East. But it’s going to get even bigger pretty soon. The authorities aim to double the city’s size in just seven years, according to Construction Week Middle East.

The population is also anticipated to undergo a doubling, soaring from 7.5 million to an impressive 15 million.

This remarkable transformation is primarily attributed to an astonishing $1 trillion worth of upcoming projects slated for the capital. Among these projects, $12.2 billion has already been allocated.

These projects are no joke. Consider projects like the massive urban development project, a huge new downtown called the New Murabba, and a gigantic new passenger terminal at King Salman International Airport. And it doesn’t stop there. Riyadh is also in the running to host Expo 2030, and it’s bringing a $7.8 billion masterplan to the table just for it!
