The Ministry of Islamic Affairs in Saudi Arabia has been busy this year, with a massive effort to maintain and upgrade over 6,000 mosques across the Kingdom<\/h2>\n

In the first half of 2024 alone, the ministry poured nearly SR500 million ($133 million) into a range of projects, ensuring that these sacred spaces are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained for worshippers.<\/p>\n

Most of the focus was on maintenance work, particularly for more than 5,300 mosques, where SR362 million ($96 million) was spent<\/h2>\n

This included modernization projects like upgrading air conditioning systems at key pilgrimage sites, such as the mosques of Miqat Al-Juhfah, Al-Taneem, and Al-Mash\u2019ar Al-Haram, with a budget of SR15 million ($3.9 million). Additionally, three mosques saw full restoration, and a new administrative building was added, all for SR13.5 million ($3.5 million).<\/p>\n

In a bid to boost energy efficiency, the ministry installed glass partitions in 683 mosques, cutting electricity consumption by 60 percent<\/h2>\n

They also took care of furnishing 66 mosques, covering a total area of over 56,000 square meters, with an investment of SR6.8 million ($1.8 million). On top of that, more than SR30 million ($7.9 million) was earmarked for maintaining four affiliated buildings.<\/p>\n

These extensive efforts underscore the ministry\u2019s dedication to providing worshippers with well-maintained, comfortable, and modern mosques throughout the Kingdom, reflecting a significant
