Saudi Arabia\u2019s Rayyanah Barnawi has officially been recognized by Guinness World Records as the first female Arab astronaut to journey into space<\/h2>\n

Her historic achievement came as part of Axiom Mission 2, which launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on May 21, 2023, alongside fellow Saudi astronaut Ali Al-Qarni.<\/p>\n

Barnawi\u2019s spaceflight was more than just a personal triumph<\/h2>\n

She dedicated the mission to the entire Arab world, saying, \u201cThis trip represents the entire Arab world and all Saudis.\u201d Her groundbreaking mission was a key milestone for women and the region\u2019s advancements in space exploration. She returned safely to Earth after spending eight days aboard the International Space Station (ISS) on May 31.<\/p>\n

During their time on the ISS, Barnawi and Al-Qarni conducted 14 research experiments<\/h2>\n

Many focused on the effects of microgravity. These experiments also involved 12,000 students from across Saudi Arabia, further inspiring a new generation of space enthusiasts.<\/p>\n

Barnawi\u2019s career is rooted in scientific research, particularly in the field of cancer stem cells<\/h2>\n

With a bachelor\u2019s degree in genetic engineering and tissue development from the University of Otago and a master\u2019s in biomedical sciences from Alfaisal University, she has contributed significantly to research at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre.<\/p>\n
