Reports confirm that in-house massage services are now banned in Saudi Arabia, in all hotels, furnished apartments and other tourist accommodation.

The only exception to this, according to Arab News, are establishments with a four-star rating or higher.

The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) confirmed the news adding that specific requirements and a clear criteria in the fields of safety and discipline can continue with massage services, in addition to being a four-star rating and higher.

Venues for massage services have to obtain a license

So massage venues that want to be able to service legally must obtain statutory licenses from proper related government agencies.

Violations are subject to penalisation and can be reported by contacting the Kingdom’s Tourism Communication Center, according to Omar bin Abdul Aziz Al-Mubarak, the director-general of the general department of licensing at SCTH.
