Saudi Arabia is making history with the expansion of its all-women ranger unit at Prince Mohammed bin Salman Royal Reserve, one of the largest in the Middle East<\/b><\/h2>\n

In celebration of International Women\u2019s Day, the reserve welcomed 40 new female rangers, increasing their presence to 34% of the total force\u2014far exceeding the global average of 11%.<\/p>\n

These inspiring women, known as Al Anqas (The Phoenix), are breaking barriers in environmental protection<\/h2>\n

Their work extends beyond safeguarding wildlife\u2014they actively engage local communities, challenge stereotypes, and foster a deeper connection between people and nature. “Having local women in these roles is crucial,” said ranger Rogayah Awad Al-Balawi. “We understand the land, its people, and its unique needs.”<\/p>\n

Each year, thousands apply for the reserve\u2019s prestigious ranger program, but only the most dedicated are selected<\/h2>\n

The intensive training covers conservation management, wildlife tracking, cultural heritage protection, first aid, and even self-defense. “Women bring a unique perspective to conservation,” said Asma Khdeer, a senior training manager. “They think about families, future generations, and long-term impact.”<\/p>\n
