Anyone in Riyadh this weekend would have noticed the iconic King Abdullah Financial District lit up in purple.

And it is not the first time a shade of purple has made the news in Saudi Arabia this week

This week, it was announced that ceremonial carpets, that are spread to welcome VIP guests, are no longer going to be the standard red but a lilac shade of purple. The reason for this is to keep Saudi heritage and roots in all spirits. Lavenders are an important flower in Saudi Arabia, after all.
