A Minister Clarifies If The COVID-19 Vaccine Is Mandatory In Saudi Arabia

Is getting the COVID-19 vaccination mandatory in Saudi Arabia? That is probably a question that many have wondered about and the answer has now been clarified.

The Minister of Commerce Majid Al-Qasabi, who is also the acting minister of media, has clarified that the coronavirus vaccine is not mandatory in Saudi Arabia but highly recommended

He added that the vaccine is not a compulsion but in order for a person to visit public places, they must be vaccinated.

He also pointed out that that mutations of the virus and uncertainty surrounding the vaccines have led to the delay in announcing the details of this year’s Hajj.

Around 15 million doses have been administered so far in Saudi Arabia, vaccinating around 40% of the country’s population.

It has been announced that smoking areas are to reopen in public places and restaurants and cafes can start serving shisha very soon.

Shisha was banned as a precaution against the spread of coronavirus

The ministry has issued several precautionary measures to reopen smoking areas and shisha serving areas starting May 17. The ministry will conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance.

Only vaccinated customers will be allowed to enter the cafe and they will need to verify this via their status on the Tawakkalna app. Read More.
