This Place In Saudi Arabia Is ‘Equivalent’ To The Maldives As Per The Boss Of A Major International Hotel Chain

Honestly, we do have some of the best beaches in the world, it’s just that a lot of them remain unexplored. As per Pascal Gauvin, the managing director of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) in India, the Middle East and Africa the Red Sea area in the kingdom is equivalent to Maldives or Seychelles.

Now, that’s a first.

Arabian Business has quoted him as saying “When I see the Red Sea, which has never been operated, I mean what a privilege. People pay a lot to go to the Maldives or Seychelles, but this is equivalent and an unspoiled area that’s never been seen before. The [Saudi government] wants to preserve the environment, work hard to preserve the site and all that is attractive to bring customers.”

Well, no wonder that the kingdom is spending billions to make the islands off the coast of Umluj and Al Wajh into a major tourist destination replete with the best of amenities.

The giga project has been titled as the Red Sea Project and is part of the country’s ambitious Vision 2030 plan.

But just so you know Gauvin has clarified his stance in the same interview by saying “I don’t know if [the Red Sea] will become the new Maldives but when I see the Red Sea site, I see potential. We’re already talking to them about potential hotels in this place. When I see the quality of the beach, the seriousness of the development team, it’s quite remarkable and we’re very impressed in the way they want to do it.”
