A Beatles’ Classic Hit Has Been Re-Recorded To Celebrate Saudi Women Driving And It Sounds REALLY Good
Since June 24, women in the Kingdom have started driving the streets and life is going greater than good. The entire world has celebrated the lift of the ban since its announcement last year and a great abundance of commemorations have taken place from every individual, company and even other nations.
Another great example of this is the fantastic cover of the hit classic ‘Drive My Car’ by the Beatles. Public Radio International of the U.S. partnered with the Berklee College of Music by rewriting the lyrics of the hit track to honour the new perspectives of the Saudi woman- today.
And it sounds beautiful.
The Arabic translation says “I will drive the car”
According to Scroll, the Arabic version titled ‘Rahsoul Say-arah’ translates to ‘I will drive that car.’ It gives off a different point-of-view, that of the Saudi woman’s. The singer, Nano Raies, is originally from Syria and she sang, composed and wrote the song.

“[And] the main idea is that this female was singing, just got the ability to drive, she’s really excited and at this moment of her life she really doesn’t care about anything else. She’s getting all these proposals from men. They are promising her all these things. But, she’s like, at the moment, I just want to drive. Maybe later I will love you, maybe later I will think about these things, but at the moment I just want to drive this car,”
