6 Things To Know About The Arabian Peninsula’s Longest River Valley Located In Saudi
The Wadi Al-Rummah is one of the Arabian Peninsula’s longest river valley that stretches almost 600km (that’s around 370 miles, peeps.) Located near Madinah at the Jibal Al Abyadh, the river ends at the Thuayrat Dunes in the province of Al-Qassim.
It is a beautiful river, that is mostly dry yet still manages to enchant desert chasers like us.
But here are more things to know about the ar-Rummah valley:
1. It was once a MAJOR river valley (some 10,000 years back)
According to a study by Dr. Abdullah Al-Musnad from the University of Qassim, this valley was actually a full-on river that flowed from Medina to the Persian Gulf around 10,000 years ago.
2. This is how the valley’s name is actually pronounced…

3. The course of the valley had been split into three ways following drought and sand movements
So there’s now the Wadi Al- Rummah, still the longest at 600km, the Wadi Aloddi (45km( and the Wadi al-Batin (450km).

The experience is short-lived and is expected to last for a week or two.
