Saudi Has Suspended Diplomatic Ties With Canada Following Tweets From Canada’s Ministry For Foreign Affairs
The Saudi Arabian government has released a statement asking the Canadian ambassador in Riyadh to leave within 24 hours.
The decision, according to several reports, comes after the Canadian embassy interfered in the Kingdom’s internal affairs.
Ambassador Denis Horak is also the Canadian rep in Bahrain, Yemen and Oman
Previously, Canada released a tweet saying it was “gravely concerned” about over the arrests of civil society and women’s rights activists in Saudi Arabia.
Canada is gravely concerned about additional arrests of civil society and women’s rights activists in #SaudiArabia, including Samar Badawi. We urge the Saudi authorities to immediately release them and all other peaceful #humanrights activists.

The Kingdom responded, stating it does not allow foreign interference in internal affairs
The Kingdom’s Foreign Ministry, announced via Twitter, the summoning of the the Saudi ambassador Naif bin Bandar Al Sudairi to Canada for a consultation. A series of tweets shared the sentiments of Saudi Arabia, when it asked the Canadian ambassador in Riyadh had 24 hours to leave the country.

“It is very unfortunate that the words ‘immediate release’ appeared in the Canadian statement … it is unacceptable in relations between countries,” the ministry stated according to the Saudi Press Agency.
“Throughout its long history, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has never accepted any interference in its domestic affairs by, or orders from any country.”
